While looking for a funny picture to photoshop for my upcoming C4ISR post, I ran across this picture of an Advanced Helmet Mounted Display:
I'm sure it is pretty useful for virtual simulations, I just don't think it would ever show up in a sequel to Top Gun or even Fire Birds.

I love how tough he's trying to look.
All thats missing are the antennae for the new class of Fly Man warriors. Or the horns to make the soldiers look more like the minnions of the Great Satan.
For some reason my mind projects Rick Moranis into this helmet.
Heh, yeah, like that contraption he wore on his head during 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids.'
It is a helluva lot more comfortable in the AVCATT than the older HMVD--about the same weight, but center of gravity is centered rather than out front, better visuals, less claustrophobic.
We're testing them now.
